Unlike its lucky sibling (140 Bay St), this J. Leo Cooke Warehouse won’t be reborn.

Last week demolition crews began disassembling the warehouse at 323-355 Warren Street at the corner of Morgan Street to make way for Phase 2 of Toll Brother’s Provost Square project. Phase 2 includes a second tower that will rise 28 stories around a 7 story base. Very similar in shape and design to tower one, aka The Morgan.

Fire causes heavy damage at Historic Clinton Music Hall

CLINTON— The town’s historic music hall, which was destroyed by a four-alarm fire in May, has been demolished.

Work taking down the building began on Monday, and equipment was still on the site Wednesday morning, removing debris from the structure that dated back to 1891.

The Music Hall had a 300-seat theater and two offices, and hosted variety acts in the 1880s, then live touring shows until 1904. It opened briefly in the mid 1960s and ’70s.

Most recently it was home to a number of businesses that had to relocate.

Chumley’s owner says famed bar’s comeback is on tap

After a collapse at 86 Bedford St. in April, the longtime home of Chumley’s bar and restaurant was in danger of staying a pile of rubble. Now, three months later, demolition crews are hard at work clearing the debris out of the building and preparing it for renovation.

“We’ve put about a week’s worth of work in so far, and in a couple of weeks, once the roof is abated, we will start up again,” said Gerald Eglentowicz, Jr., New York City operations manager for LVI/Mazzocchi Wrecking, Inc. “So far, we’ve removed the collapsed chimney and made way for shoring to be put in place to support the building.”
